Machine Operator - E-Beam 3rd Shift
Judd Wire Inc., a Sumitomo Electric Group company, is looking for a 3rd‑shift E‑Beam (Irradiation) Operator in our Turners Falls, MA facility.
Job OverviewIndividuals will be responsible for a variety of duties including performing required operations within the Irradiation Department while adhering to strict standards in the processing of wire and cable. Targeted job training is provided for all skill levels starting on day 1 and throughout your career at Judd Wire.
CompensationMinimum hourly rate: $20.32/hour plus a 3rd‑shift differential of $3.00/hour.
Responsibilities- Work from SOPs, work orders, schedules, written and verbal instructions to set up and operate irradiation equipment control panel.
- Adhere to programmed specifications and maintain records in the BPCS system.
- Continuously monitor samples to ensure insulated wire receives proper irradiation.
- Spot operations should not result in failing to adhere to dosage specifications.
- Check wire and cable before stringing up on the machine; restring if breaks.
- Refer product work to the proper department if received for irradiation in an improper condition.
- Maintain log on equipment, performance, hours, and other similar information as instructed.
- Assist others in minor repairs, outer/inner irradiation vault as appropriate.
- Clean wire path line to maintain clean product emerging from the vault.
- Cross‑train on all E‑beams and rotate between them as scheduled.
- Detect and report defective materials, malfunctioning equipment, and unusual conditions to supervision.
- Observe all safety rules and regulations.
- Maintain equipment and work areas in a clean and orderly condition.
- High School diploma or GED.
- 1–3 months transferrable experience.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.
- Team player with the willingness to learn.
- Knowledge of ordinary arithmetic, including decimals, fractions, and simple use of specifications.
- Proficiency with adjustable measuring instruments.
- Capacity for moderate physical effort consisting of frequently moving average weights.
- Continuous mental and visual attention to repetitive work, requiring constant alertness or activity.
- Ability to work under conditions that may expose employees to noise, fumes, dust, etc.
- All PIV training and certification will be completed after hire.
