TURNERS FALLS Non CDL Bus Operator
Franklin Transit Management (FTM) is currently seeking part-time and full-time Demand Response bus drivers. The schedules include working on weekends and times of shifts may vary.

Valid Driver's License required. Weekend availability is a must.
Position SummaryThe Demand Response Driver's Primary Responsibilities are to safely and efficiently operate their assigned vehicle on a specified route in accordance with the pick-up and drop-off manifest schedule allotted for that day. Our operators act as front-line customer service representatives of the Company and must use their sound judgment, communication skills, and professional knowledge to assist customers with information, resolve problems and conflicts where possible, and assure passenger safety.
This position is subject to drug and alcohol testing, including random testing, under Federal Transportation Administration (FTA) drug and alcohol regulations.
Applicants must:
- Be willing to work at weekends.
- Have at least 3 years of driving experience and be over age 23.
- Have reliable transportation to and from work.
- Provide transportation in accordance with Massachusetts law, ADA policy, Company policy, and the principles of safe vehicle operation.
- Demonstrate a level of skill and ability consistent with the provision of high-quality transportation care.
- Work effectively with minimal supervision, using good judgment, common sense, and workplace trainings.
- Know and adhere to all applicable traffic rules and regulations.
- Pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test.
- Be eligible to work in the US without restriction and be able to pass a background check, including a motor vehicle check to DOT standards.
- Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
- Pass USDOT Medical Examination/Physical.
- Be able to lift up to 30 pounds.
- Be able to sit for durations of up to two continuous hours, as well as stand, kneel, and crouch as needed.
- Have working knowledge of basic arithmetic, map reading and time telling.
- Communicate verbally to the extent of interacting with passengers and dispatchers.
- Complete accurate, legible written reports in English.
- Possess any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school, including skill proficiency and graduation equivalence degree programs.
- Obtain a valid Bus Operators License issued by the Massachusetts Department of Public Utilities (DPU); the Company will sponsor the license if an offer is extended.
FTM Demand Response Drivers must meet Department of Transportation (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). qualifications and are required to obtain and maintain a DOT Medical Card as a condition of future and continued employment. All job offers are made contingent upon meeting the DOT medical requirements of the job. This medical exam, provided by a physician registered with the USDOT (U.S. Department of Transportation), is of no cost to the applicant.
Applicants with a current and valid Medical Card will also be required to complete this exam.
