General

Summary:

The Academic Transfer Specialist (ATS) is an integral member of the Enrollment Services team and serves as the primary coordinator for all transfer-related processes. This position is responsible for assisting students transferring to SKC with the evaluation and application of prior college credits, as well as supporting students transferring or matriculating from SKC to graduate programs or other institutions. This requires course-level screening through collaboration with faculty and staff, and consultation with academic departments regarding transfer requirements for all articulation agreements.

Additionally, the ATS:

  • Represents the SKC Registrar's Office at meetings related to transfer, articulation, and transfer pathway initiatives, as requested.
  • Assists the Registrar's Office in providing accurate information regarding admissions, transfer requirements, articulation agreements, transfer pathways, and other essential information to prospective, current, and returning students.
  • Participates in the collection, verification, maintenance, and reporting of data for the Registrar's Office, including but not limited to National Student Clearinghouse reporting, transcript processing, transfer evaluation records, articulation agreements, and annual planning.
  • Cross-training with other enrollment services (Financial Aid and Admissions) will be required to fully support transfer students’ needs. The ATC will support college activities, committees, and professional development appropriate to the position.

    Duties and Responsibilities:
    • Perform all duties promptly while maintaining quality customer service to students, faculty, staff, and educational partners from other institutions.
    • Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills while providing clear, professional guidance to students, faculty, and staff.
    • Learn Enrollment Services processes and related software to assist with processing transfers, transcripts, and other incoming and outgoing student needs.
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for transfer-related questions, working closely with students, faculty, advisors, and external institutions.
    • Maintain knowledge of SKC academic programs, admission requirements, transfer policies, and student services to effectively assist prospective and current transfer students.
    • Provide timely, accurate, and relevant support for students transferring to or matriculating from SKC.
    • Provide general academic advising for prospective transfer students and discuss degree completion options by interpreting core requirements for each academic program in support of primary academic advising.
    • Receive, review, and evaluate official transcripts to determine transfer credit applicability and program eligibility, coordinating with transfer institutions as needed.
    • Independently collaborate with academic departments to evaluate transfer coursework, resolve transfer-related issues, and support articulation and degree completion.
    • Review and process course substitution and waiver requests in accordance with institutional policies.
    • Manage transfer evaluations, substitutions, waivers, and related processes independently while ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance.
    • Process official SKC transcript requests in accordance with institutional policies and FERPA regulations.
    • Assist SKC students seeking admission to graduate programs at SKC and other institutions by providing guidance through the admissions process.
    • Communicate with academic and administrative departments regarding transfer policies, student eligibility, and issues affecting incoming transfer students.
