Role

Summary:

The Foundations General Foreman provides field leadership and oversight for foundation construction activities across assigned project areas. This position is responsible for coordinating multiple crews and Foremen, maintaining production and schedule expectations, and ensuring foundation work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project plans, specifications, and quality standards.

The Foundations General Foreman serves as a key connection between field crews and project leadership, proactively identifying issues, coordinating resources, and supporting Foremen in the successful execution of foundation activities.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Field Leadership & Crew Oversight
  • Provide daily leadership and direction to multiple foundation crews and Foremen.
  • Coordinate laborers, equipment operators, and subcontractors across assigned work areas.
  • Support Foremen with planning, problem-solving, and resolution of field issues.
  • Establish clear daily priorities and expectations to keep crews productive and aligned with the project schedule.
  • Monitor crew performance and provide direction when productivity or execution falls below expectations.
  • Promote teamwork, accountability, and a positive field culture.
Foundation Construction
  • Oversee foundation construction activities including:
  • oGround preparation and excavation
  • oTrenching
  • oRebar placement and installation
  • oFormwork
  • oConcrete placement and pours
  • oConcrete finishing
  • oRelated structural foundation activities
  • Ensure construction activities are performed according to drawings, specifications, and approved work plans.
  • Coordinate sequencing between crews and work areas to minimize downtime and maintain workflow.
  • Verify crews have the appropriate materials, equipment, manpower, and information needed to complete assigned work.
Planning, Scheduling & Production
  • Coordinate daily and short-term foundation work plans with Foremen and project leadership.
  • Monitor overall production and progress against project schedule and established productivity expectations.
  • Identify potential schedule impacts and proactively develop solutions with project leadership.
  • Coordinate manpower, equipment, materials, and work activities across multiple crews.
  • Communicate material shortages, equipment issues, manpower needs, weather impacts, and other potential delays.
  • Assist with planning upcoming work and ensuring crews are prepared for scheduled activities.
Drawings, Layout & Quality
  • I nterpret construction drawings, specifications, and layout plans.
  • Coordinate with Survey to verify layout, elevations, alignment, and tolerances.
  • Work closely with QA/QC and Foremen to ensure work is ready for inspection and concrete placement.
  • Identify and address quality concerns before they impact schedule or require rework.
