Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Dental Assistant to support dentists in delivering high-quality patient care in a fast-paced clinical environment. The ideal candidate will assist with chairside procedures, maintain infection control standards, prepare treatment rooms, manage patient records, and ensure a positive patient experience. This position requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively as part of a healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the dentist during a variety of dental procedures, including restorative, surgical, and preventive treatments.
  • Prepare treatment rooms, instruments, and materials before patient appointments.
  • Sterilize and disinfect instruments and equipment in accordance with OSHA, CDC, and infection control guidelines.
  • Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) as permitted by state regulations.
  • Record patient medical histories, vital information, and treatment notes accurately.
  • Educate patients on oral hygiene, post-operative care, and preventive dental practices.
  • Schedule appointments and assist with patient flow to ensure efficient clinic operations.
  • Maintain inventory of dental supplies and notify management of replenishment needs.
  • Ensure patient comfort before, during, and after dental procedures.
  • Follow all safety, HIPAA, and facility policies and procedures.
Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Completion of an accredited Dental Assistant program preferred.
  • Current Dental Assistant certification, registration, or licensure (as required by state law).
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Minimum of 1 year of recent dental assisting experience preferred.
  • Experience with digital dental radiography and electronic dental records.
  • Knowledge of dental instruments, materials, and infection control procedures.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary healthcare environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) credential.
  • Experience in federal, military, tribal, community health, or public health dental clinics.
  • Familiarity with Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or other dental practice management software.
