Hardin School Districts 17H & 1 have the following position open for the school year: SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER – HARDIN PRIMARY SCHOOL at the KINDERGARTEN READINESS CENTER
Applicant must have a valid Montana Educator License with a Special Education curriculum endorsement or be able to obtain certification within 60 days of assuming contracted duties. Benefit package includes:

POSITION TITLE:
Early Childhood Special Education Teacher
FACILITY:
Hardin Primary School at the Kindergarten Readiness Center
REPORTS TO:
Program Director
The person in this position creates a flexible early childhood special education program and a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth, utilizing evidence based curriculum adopted by the Districts. The teacher establishes effective rapport with pupils and motivates pupils to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for Kindergarten readiness in accordance with each pupils ability.
The teacher also establishes good relationships with parents and with other staff members.
- Plan and implement an approved program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students
- Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students, in accordance with state requirements
- Assist in development of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Attend and participate in multidisciplinary treatment team meetings, IEP meetings, and other required meetings
- Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior to provide an orderly and productive learning environment
- Guide the learning process toward curriculum goals and establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects
- Instruct pupils in citizenship and basic subject matter per state law and district procedures
- Develop instructional plans and organize class time for a balanced program of direct instruction, guided practice, and independent practice
- Provide individual and small group instruction to meet varying needs
- Utilize appropriate technology in lesson planning and implementation
- Arrange and set up classroom; maintain progress reports and regular communication with parents
- Evaluate pupils’ academic and social growth; maintain records and prepare progress reports
- Coordinate schedules with building staff
- Identify pupils’ needs, make referrals, and implement IEP strategies
- Be available to students and parents for education-related purposes
- Plan and coordinate the work of para-professionals, parents, and volunteers
- Establish procedures and instruction for care, use, and storage of materials and technology
- Create an environment for learning through displays, centers, and student work exhibits
- Assist administration in policies and rules governing students
- Maintain professional competence through in-service activities
- Collaborate with staff to improve outcomes
- Select and requisition instructional materials and maintain inventory
- Cooperate in school-wide supervision during the normal school day
- Participate in faculty and/or district committees and sponsorship of student activities
- Report cases of suspected child abuse as required

EDUCATION / CERTIFICATION: Valid Montana Teacher Certification with Special Education endorsement
EXPERIENCE: Preschool experience preferred
