Position: Seasonal Zoo Educator (Naturalist)
Location: West Yellowstone

Grizzly & Wolf Discovery Center

The Grizzly & Wolf Discovery Center is located at the west entrance to Yellowstone National Park, and is home to grizzly bears, gray wolves, river otters, and other species native to the area. We see approximately 200,000 visitors per year, primarily in the summer months. We are in our 25th year of AZA accreditation.

Seasonal Zoo Educator (Naturalist)

The Grizzly & Wolf Discovery Center (GWDC) is hiring for a seasonal naturalist.
The primary responsibility for the position is speaking and interacting with visitors. Naturalists will educate visitors about the animals at the GWDC and their wild counterparts in the Great Yellowstone Ecosystem through formal programs and informal interactions, answer related questions, and contribute to the development of educational materials as needed. They will also assist with administrative tasks, enforce safety guidelines, and assist with grounds upkeep in public spaces, which includes light physical activity such as sweeping, shoveling snow, or cleaning public spaces.

This position does not involve hands‑on work with animals or any animal care duties.

Positions start as early as May 1 and run through October 31.

Experience Required

Requirements:
One year of relevant job experience; OR, bachelor’s degree related to natural resources, environmental education, or biology; AND, experience demonstrating public speaking, education, and customer service skills. Must be flexible to work weekends and holidays; must be able to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience educating diverse age groups from young children to senior adults; experience in interpretation and education in a zoo setting, or around wildlife; knowledge of the Yellowstone ecosystem; and/or, completion of a relevant certification, such as NAI’s Certified Interpretive Guide.
