Elementary Curriculum

Location: Saco

Saco School is seeking a full-time elementary teacher to teach a variety of elementary and JH classes for the  school year.
With our small student numbers, this position could possibly be combined with other subject areas if the candidate has other endorsements.  These other areas include business, foreign language, and vocational education.

Job Details:

School Week:
4-day school week; 163 contract days

Contract hours:  7:30 am - 4:00 pm

Base Salary:
$42,863

Up to 7 years of experience will be accepted for salary placement

Insurance:
District contributes $500/month for single; $800/two-party;
$1000/family premium

Leave time:
102 emergency leave hours; 25.5 personal leave hours

Other:
Free lunch; $100/semester credit for additional professional                                        development;
Severance pay; retirement incentive

Saco is a small rural community located between Malta and Glasgow along the “Hi-Line” of Montana.  We have a K-12 student population of 48, and our staff includes 11 teachers and 10 classified staff.  We have an aggressive technology program that includes one-to-one laptops for students in grades 4th-12th.  Our primary students use iPads and Chrome Books.  We have Smart Boards in each classroom and contract with Montana Technical Solutions for our technology needs.  

Our parents and community are very supportive of our school.

Saco School offers many opportunities for students, including music classes, shop classes, business classes, and BPA.  Our students have experienced great success in sports, including our Malta Mustang football coop, North Country Mavericks volleyball and basketball coop, and Saco School track program.  

If you are interested in hunting and fishing, there are multiple opportunities within a few miles of Saco.  These include Nelson Reservoir, Fort Peck Lake, and the Milk River for fishing, as well as thousands of acres of state and federal lands for hunting.  The community of Saco includes four churches, a cafe, a grocery store/meat shop,  a hardware store/lumber yard/fertilizer plant, gas pumps, and one bar.  

The Sleeping Buffalo Hot Springs Resort is only 10 miles away.
