SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
QUALIFICATIONS:
* Completed district employment application
* Must pass a background check
* Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
* Must possess or be able to acquire a Montana teaching license issued by the Montana
Office of Public Instruction
* Hold an endorsement which is appropriate to the special education placement Valid
Montana Teaching Certificate
* Successful teaching experience
* Must be able to successfully complete performance responsibilities listed below
* Any other qualifications as the School Board may find appropriate and/or acceptable
Potential Projected Contracted Salaried Compensation for a Certified Teaching position with LDPS: $44,883 - $74,061

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Salary, benefits, and work year to be established by negotiations with the School Board.
EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated, annually and in accordance with provisions of the School Board’s policy on evaluations.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The physical demands described herein are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job: standing 50 percent or more and ability to move around a classroom. JOB GOAL:
The teacher will implement into daily instruction appropriate educational curriculum based on the Montana State Standards. The teacher will create and maintain an educational atmosphere that encourages effective student learning and supports school and district programs and goals. The teacher will serve as teacher of record for students with disabilities. The teacher establishes good relationships and works cooperatively with students, parents, peers, administration, and community members and agencies.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES (may include but not limited to the following):
* Administer appropriate district curriculum utilizing course of study adopted by the School Board and other appropriate learning activities which is aligned with the Montana State Standards.
* Instruct pupils in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law, administrative regulations, and procedures of the school district.
* Ensure the opportunity for all pupils to learn in a supportive environment.
* Create and maintain a positive, orderly, and academically focused learning condition in the instructional environment.
* Develop lesson plans and instructional materials, and provide individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil.
* Translate lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for instruction.
* Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
* Evaluate pupils’ academic and social growth, keep appropriate records, and prepare progress reports.
* Communicate with parents through conferences and other means to discuss pupil’s progress and interpret the school program.
* Identify pupil needs and cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing and helping pupils solve health, attitude, and learning problems.
* Create an effective environment for learning through functional and attractive displays, bulletin boards, and interest centers.
* Maintain professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the District and self-selected professional growth activities.
* Select and requisition books and instructional aide.
* Administer group standardized tests in accordance with District testing program.
* Participate in curriculum development programs as required.
* Participate in faculty committees and the sponsorship of pupil activities.
* Work professionally with administrators, staff, parents, and community.
* Integrate technology into the instructional program.
* Demonstrate knowledge, skill, and ability to provide specially designed instruction to students with disabilities.
