Anticipated Opening for K-12 Special Education Teacher for 2026-27 School Year:

Chinook's salary and insurance benefits are incredibly competitive for newer teachers and the cost of living in Chinook means those dollars go even further.  We allow veteran teachers to bring in up to eight years of prior contracted teaching experience, making our starting pay range for 2026-27, $44,000 - $53,900.

The district pays 100% of the health insurance premium for each employee (currently $13,576 annually). The district contributes 140% of the single premium towards a family insurance plan (currently $19,006 annually). If the employee is already covered by health insurance (spouse, parent, military, etc.) then the employee may opt-out and take $750 per month as a salary stipend ($9,000 annually).  A brand new teacher, with no experience, could earn as much as $53,000, if they are already have health insurance coverage.

We encourage our staff to continue their education by providing up to $1,000 annually for continuing education. We have a mentoring program for new teaching staff and provide additional professional development opportunities for teachers new to the district through our curriculum consortium.

Teachers new to the district receive a $2,000 signing bonus, half paid in August and another half paid in December.  New teachers may also obtain up to $1,000 in moving expenses for costs incurred moving to Chinook.  Teachers and their enrolled students eat lunch for free. Teachers may elect to take a cash advance in August of $1,500 as the first pay period isn't until the middle of September.

Payday is the 20th of every month.
