Job Goal: To provide instruction of assigned students, keeping within the law, Board policies, and administrative regulations. Instruction includes student guidance, management, skills, and knowledge in grade/subject areas taught.
Essential Requirements- Montana Teaching License with appropriate grade level/subject area endorsement.
- Ability to assist in establishing and maintaining an effective learning climate.
- Ability to interpret and implement all Board policies, administrative regulations, and negotiated agreements.
- Ability to assist in the development, revisions, and evaluation of curriculum and instructional services.
- Ability to assist in the development of school plans and organizational procedures for health, safety, discipline, and conduct of students as established in district procedures.
- Ability to serve as liaison between the school and community, interpreting activities and policies of the school and encouraging parent involvement.
- Ability to provide direction to others and to make independent judgments.
- Ability to work harmoniously with others and to communicate effectively (orally and in writing) with students, parents, teachers, and community.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality when dealing with student, staff, and/or parent information.
- Ability to communicate with individuals of varied cultural and educational backgrounds.
- Ability to keep and maintain accurate records and to meet deadlines.
- Physical requirements:
moderate to extensive stamina; frequent and prolonged standing, walking, sitting; ability to restrain students in emergency situations; frequent and prolonged talking/hearing; near/far visual acuity; possible exposure to bodily fluids due to student injury.
- Meet and instruct assigned classes.
- Plan and implement a program of study following state and district goals/curriculum, meeting the individual needs and development of students.
- Guide the learning process toward achievement of curriculum goals; establish clear objectives for all instructional units, projects, and lessons.
- Diagnose the needs and abilities of assigned students and prescribe appropriate learning activities.
- Evaluate each student's growth periodically and develop instructional plans; assist specialists in instruction of special education students.
- Establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and parents/guardians regarding academic and behavioral progress.
- Assist administration in implementing policies governing student conduct; develop reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedures; maintain order fairly.
- Encourage students to set and maintain appropriate classroom behavior standards.
- Maintain accurate, complete and confidential records as required by law and district policy.
- Confer with colleagues, administration, students, and parents when necessary.
- Plan and supervise assignments for Educational Assistants, Special Needs Assistants and volunteers and provide input regarding performance.
- Continuously improve professional competence through reading, workshops, seminars, conferences, and advanced coursework.
- Attend staff meetings and serve on staff/district committees as required.
- Demonstrate knowledge of subject matter, seek professional growth, improve classroom instruction, and qualify for certification per state and district regulations.
- Perform other tasks as appropriate to the Board or Administration.
- Maintain satisfactory attendance as defined in district policy.
- Montana Teaching License.
- Valid First Aid card (if required).
- Valid Driver's License (if required).
- Bloodborne Pathogens Training/Hepatitis B Shot Series Training (if required).
