  • Build positive relationships with guardians, and collaborate with them in order to provide the appropriate services needed to help their children (i.e. Parent education, in-school counseling and/or behavioral intervention, refer to outside agencies).
  • Work closely with outside providers to ensure seamless services and communication between school, agency, and guardians.
  • Provide individual and group counseling, primarily at the middle and high school level.
  • Demonstrate continued professional development through course work, research, peer collaboration and/or job-embedded staff development.
  • Utilize evidence-based best practice in all aspects of work including pre-referral interventions, consultations and evaluations.
  • Participate in design, implementation, and evaluation of interventions with students experiencing academic and behavioral difficulty.
  • Administer, score, and analyze a variety of psycho-educational evaluations and/or supplemental assessments relevant to individual students. The average caseload for comprehensive evaluations is approximately 30-35 per year.
  • Use assessment results to assist evaluation teams in determining special education eligibility, as well as to identify and assess the learning, development, adjustment, functional capabilities, characteristics, needs of students, and the environmental factors that affect learning and adjustment.
  • Use assessment data about the student and his/her environment(s) to develop appropriate, research based interventions and programs.
  • Develop and help implement individual, group or systems level interventions to improve or resolve academic, social/emotional/behavioral, and mental health needs as they relate to educational progress. Provide support, instructions, technical assistance and ongoing monitoring of progress toward measurable, identified goals for students at each level.
  • Participate in yearly Child Find Screenings at the preschool level. Collaborate with teachers and parents regarding children's results and possible interventions and/or evaluations.
