Starting wage: $17.00 per hour
Universal Obligations and Expectations of Each Staff MemberThe expectation of the District that each staff member will: (1) put the safety, health, and well‑being of students at the forefront of all actions, job responsibilities, and decisions, and (2) undertake all duties in alignment with the District’s Strategic Plan.
Essential Functions- Serve as a flexible, district‑wide substitute, filling in wherever needed on any given day with no set schedule.
- Assume the responsibilities of certified and classified staff members in their absence, including but not limited to:
Classroom Instruction – deliver lessons, supervise students, manage classroom behavior, and support student learning;
Paraprofessional/Aide Support – assist students individually or in small groups;
Office/Clerical Support – perform tasks such as answering phones, filing, data entry, and other general office duties;
Food Service – assist in the preparation, serving, and cleanup of school meals;
Custodial Support – assist with cleaning, sanitizing, or general maintenance tasks;
Transportation Support – serve as a bus aide to help ensure student safety during transport. - Maintain a safe, orderly, and positive environment in all settings.
- Communicate and collaborate with administrators, teachers, and staff to ensure continuity of operations and student support.
- Adapt quickly to varying job assignments, environments, and student/staff needs.
- Other functions may be required as given or assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Prior experience working with children, in schools, or in related fields (education, childcare, food service, custodial, clerical, etc.) preferred but not required.
- Flexibility and willingness to work across multiple departments and job functions as assigned.
- Ability to quickly adapt to different tasks, supervisors, and expectations on a daily basis.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to establish positive working relationships with students, staff, and parents.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of student and staff information.
- Ability to handle stressful situations, manage time effectively, and maintain professionalism in diverse settings.
- Consistent attendance and reliability are essential.
- Associate’s degree, bachelor’s degree, or teaching certificate.
- Previous experience in classroom instruction or student supervision.
Variety of electronic and technology devices, copier, kitchen equipment, custodial tools, and other job‑specific equipment as needed.
Work EnvironmentWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works inside classrooms, offices, kitchens, buses, and custodial/maintenance areas but may be assigned to outside activities. The noise level is usually moderate.
Physical DemandsFrequently required to sit; occasionally walk and stand; twist at neck, bend at waist, kneel. Vision: close vision, distance vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus. Hearing: required to hear conversations in quiet environments. May be required to lift or move up to 20 pounds.
Mental/Motor DemandsThe employee rarely performs routine work. Frequently exercises flexibility (ability to shift from one task to another). Guidance and reinforcement are usually available. The employee frequently works within time constraints and maintains attentiveness intensity.
