Position OverviewThe Montana Youth Challenge Academy (MYCA) is seeking a Substitute Teacher for a variable, on‑call as‑needed position. Responsibilities include filling in for the absence of full‑time teachers, assisting the education department with testing and projects, and other educational duties as needed. Availability to report on short notice is a plus. This position reports to the MYCA Education Program Specialist and does not supervise others.
MYCA provides two 22‑week sessions for approximately 110 youth participants aged 16 to 18 per session.
This position is not included in the Academic Teacher Career Ladder.
Responsibilities- Fill in for absent full‑time teachers.
- Assist the education department with testing and projects.
- Perform other educational duties as needed.
- Minimum:
Bachelor’s degree and comfortable teaching high school students and its curriculum in a classroom setting. - Preferred:
Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field, certification from the State of MT (Class 1, 2, or 5 in any field), and teaching experience.
- Must pass a pre‑employment and ongoing random drug screening.
- Must be able to pass background and driving record checks.
- Must possess or obtain a valid Montana driver’s license.
- Must have demonstrated ability to work with and engage in diverse working environments.
- Must be of sound judgment and good character, as indicated by reference and background checks.
