Job Description

Certified Lame Deer Public Schools District #6 is seeking an Elementary Classroom Teacher. Qualifications include: completion of a district employment application, passing a background check, holding a valid Montana Teaching Certificate, a Bachelor's degree in Education, successful teaching experience, and the ability to complete performance responsibilities listed below. Any other qualifications deemed appropriate by the School Board are also considered.

Terms Of Employment:
Salary, benefits, and work year to be established by negotiations with the School Board.

Evaluation:
Performance will be evaluated annually in accordance with the School Board's policy on evaluations.

Physical Requirements:

The job requires standing for 50 percent or more of the time and the ability to move around a classroom. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.

Job Goal:
To create a flexible elementary grade program and a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth; to establish effective rapport with pupils; to motivate pupils to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for further education in accordance with each pupil's ability; to establish good relationships with parents and other staff members.

Performance Responsibilities (may include but not limited to the following):

• Teach reading, language arts, social studies, mathematics, and science to pupils in a classroom, utilizing course of study adopted by the School Board and other appropriate learning activities.
• Instruct pupils in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law, administrative regulations, and procedures of the school district.
• Develop lesson plans and instructional materials, and provide individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil.
• Translate lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for instruction.
• Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
• Evaluate pupils' academic and social growth, keep appropriate records, and prepare progress reports.
• Communicate with parents through conferences and other means to discuss pupil's progress and interpret the school program.
• Identify pupil needs and cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing and helping pupils solve health, attitude, and learning problems.
• Create an effective environment for learning through functional and attractive displays, bulletin boards, and interest centers.
• Maintain professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the District and self-selected professional growth activities.
• Select and requisition books and instructional aide.
• Supervise pupils in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned working day.
• Administer group standardized tests in accordance with District testing program.
• Participate in curriculum development programs as required.
• Participate in faculty committees and the sponsorship of pupil activities.
• Other duties assigned.
