- Support process design and optimization of power and industrial systems, including thermal cycles, fuel handling, water treatment, and chemical feed systems
- Conduct engineering analyses and calculations related to fluid flow, combustion, heat exchange, emissions control, and chemical process performance
- Develop technical specifications, cost estimates, and project scopes for equipment installations and system modifications
- Collect and analyze process and performance data to identify operational inefficiencies and recommend improvements
- Prepare technical reports, process flow diagrams, and heat and material balances to support engineering and operations decisions
- Collaborate with maintenance, drafting, and operations teams on field investigations, troubleshooting, and system upgrades
- Evaluate vendor proposals and equipment specifications, ensuring compliance with performance, safety, and environmental standards
- Participate in process hazard reviews, environmental audits, and safety studies in accordance with applicable codes and regulatory guidelines
- Provide project management support, including schedule coordination, cost control, and documentation
- For senior engineers:
Lead process improvement projects, mentor junior engineers, and coordinate with plant leadership on reliability and sustainability initiatives
- Bachelor s Degree in Chemical Engineering (Master s preferred) or Professional Engineer (PE) license in Chemical Engineering
- 5+ years of relevant engineering experience in process design, plant operations, or energy systems
- Working knowledge of industry standards (ASME, API, ASTM, NFPA, EPA) and environmental permitting requirements
- Demonstrated success in process optimization, performance testing, and project execution
- Experience with power generation, petrochemical, or utility-scale process systems
- Proficiency in Aspen Plus, HYSYS, ChemCAD, or other process simulation tools
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in the state of Montana (or ability to obtain within 12 months)
