Job Summary:
The Assistant Branch Manager will assist the Branch Manager in providing leadership to the bank through efficient daily operations in all areas of banking service.

- Represent American Bank in a courteous, professional manner while providing prompt, high-quality customer service.
- Assist the Branch Manager in overseeing daily branch operations, including customer service, internal sales, and operational efficiency.
- Coordinate and support branch staff activities, including scheduling and ensuring proper opening and closing procedures.
- Maintain a working knowledge of all bank products and services to effectively serve customers and support staff development.
- Open and service deposit accounts including checking, savings, certificates of deposit, and individual retirement accounts.
- Process and manage consumer lending products including Liberty Lines, HELOCs, overdraft protection, and other secured or unsecured consumer loans, including underwriting, renewals, and servicing.
- Identify customer needs and cross-sell appropriate bank products and services; support referrals for credit cards and merchant services.
- Develop and maintain customer relationships to support deposit and loan growth and achieve established sales and service goals.
- Monitor and review overdrawn accounts and contact customers regarding account resolution.
- Resolve customer concerns by researching issues and following through to resolution.
- Perform account maintenance and other servicing requests.
- Ensure adherence to internal controls, branch procedures, and bank policies.
- Train and support Universal Bankers on bank products and digital banking services.
- Collaborate with Operations and Lending staff to ensure a positive customer experience.
- Participate in community outreach and business development efforts.
- Upholds day-to-day oversight and responsibility for ensuring compliance with regulatory laws as they relate to functions within their departments.
- Satisfactorily complete all required compliance bank training.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational, and leadership abilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills including coaching and mentoring abilities.
- Ability to exercise sound judgement to make thoughtful, informed decisions in a fast-paced, highly regulated environment.
- Proficiency in banking software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to efficiently manage time across multiple priorities and work independently.
- Knowledge of banking regulations and compliance standards.
- Required:
- High school diploma of GED
- 2-5 years of relevant experience in banking, retail, or financial services in a supervisory role.
- Preferred:
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in:
Finance, Business Administration, Accounting, Management, or a related field - Prior role as a Teller Supervisor, Lead Teller, Customer Service Supervisor, or Banker.
- Familiarity with regulatory compliance.
- Handling audits, scheduling, and branch operations.
- Hold a Montana Notary Public or obtain within 6 months of employment.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in:
- Primarily office-based in a clean atmosphere with normal noise levels.
- Standard business hours of 8:00 am – 5:00 pm Monday through Friday with occasional extended hours for projects or audits.
- Exposed to a potentially hazardous condition – robbery. Receives detailed instructions and procedures to be followed to minimize the risk.
- Ability to see, hear, speak, and use hands to operate standard office equipment including computers, telephones, calculator, photocopies, and postage machines.
