Summary:

As a Loan Officer of The Bank of Commerce, you are responsible for business development and establishing new relationships. It is expected that you will increase the bank’s loan and deposit balances by developing relationships which run parallel to bank goals. An integral part of your job function is to assess a borrower’s creditworthiness for potential loan transactions through detailed analysis of a borrower’s financial position.

As part of this process, you will accept loan applications, collect the proper financial data, underwrite potential credits, make credit decisions, and close and service loan transactions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Entry level Loan Officer position.
  • Reviews input from credit analysts and makes independent credit decisions on simple, lower dollar loan requests.
  • Works closely with upper level Loan Officers to assist in analyzing and structuring complex loan requests.
  • Will meet directly with customers to assess credit needs, gather underwriting materials, and eventually close loans.
  • Submits loans above individual lending limit to Area Managers or Senior Loan Review for approval.
  • Level 1 Loan Officers will be responsible for developing and maintaining a loan portfolio balance between up to $5 million.
  • May be expected to have operational supervision over other employees. Engages in civic and community organizations as part of the business development process.

Education and/or

Experience:

College degree in finance or business-related field is preferred and/or equivalent work experience. Should have previous banking experience or minimum three-five years related work experience.

Skills:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
