Job Overview

Provides pastoral care and/or counseling to patients, family members, Associates, Medical Staff, and visitors at Methodist Healthcare – Memphis Hospitals.

• Provides pastoral care and/or counseling to patients, family members, and visitors.
• Provides pastoral care and/or counseling to Associates and Medical Staff.
• Demonstrates initiative in identifying opportunities for self-development and enhancement of professional competency.
• Performs other job functions as assigned or requested.

• Master's Degree in Divinity (Required).
• Master's Degree in Theology (Required).

• Hospital Chaplain experience: 1-3 years (Required).

• Board Certified Jewish Chaplain – National Association of Jewish Chaplains.
• Board Certified Catholic Chaplain – National Association of Catholic Chaplains.
• Board Certified Chaplain – IC – Board of Chaplaincy Certification Incorporated Commission.

• Functional knowledge of the religious principles of major faiths.
• Ability to work effectively with persons of diverse religious, cultural, and racial backgrounds.
• Skill and proficiency in applying advanced concepts, principles, and professional techniques in chaplaincy.
• Ability to listen, understand, and minister to the specific spiritual needs of persons in crisis.

No supervisory or lead responsibilities are assigned to this position.

The physical activities of this position may include climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion. Must have good balance and coordination. Exerting up to 25 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently. Must have close visual acuity to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal;

or extensive reading. Typically performed under general office conditions.
