Supervises and manages seven coders and five medical records technicians and one HIM CAC that work in three locations. The incumbent plans, assigns work, evaluates performance, hires staff, recommends promotions, takes disciplinary actions, resolves grievances, identifies training needs and schedules employees / approves leave.
Program Management - Directs the Health Information Management Program;
Establishes departmental priorities;
Monitors regulatory compliance;
Ensures compliance with HIPAA, Joint Commission, CMS, IHS Policy, Federal Records requirements, Clinical Documentation and Improvement.
Advises executive leadership, resolves difficult HIM issues;
Provides leadership to clinical staff, IT and CAC regarding interdisciplinary HIMS issues/ questions. RPMS/EHR modernization, privacy investigations, data analytics and revenue cycle initiatives.
