Laundry Technician
Cabinet Peaks Medical Center is looking for a Laundry Technician to join our Environmental Services Department on an as needed basis (PRN).
This position is responsible for providing clean linen for the medical center and ancillary buildings. The Laundry Tech maintains and updates knowledge of equipment and supplies used in the laundering process. This position must maintain knowledge of department and medical center policies and procedures.
Major Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Sorts linen appropriately.
- Weighs soiled linen and records weight in log.
- Loads washers and programs appropriately for linen type, weight and soil level.
- Transfers washed linens, to dryers and dries appropriately.
- Folds linen properly and neatly.
- Distributes linen to the appropriate areas of the medical center as scheduled.
- Cleans laundry area and equipment at the end of each shift.
- Completes the assigned Healthstream annual education courses on time.
- Maintains utility and storage areas in a clean and orderly manner.
- Uses chemicals appropriately.
- Refills all necessary supplies and dispensers as required.
- Utilizes attendance system per organizational and departmental guidelines.
- Cleans medical center areas and linen storage as scheduled.
Skills, Knowledge, & Abilities
- Knowledge of commercial linen cleaners and equipment preferred.
- Ability to read, write and speak English.
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions, including basic computer use.
- Must meet all local health regulation requirements including a criminal background investigation and reference inquiry
Education Requirements
- High School Education or equivalent preferred.
Experience
- Previous laundry experience preferred, including knowledge of infection control.
Schedule
- Primarily eight (8) hour shifts. Weekend and holidays are required to provide coverage. Hours and shifts may change or rotate to provide coverage and perform the necessary duties. Days worked and shift times are subject to change at the request of the manager.
