Pioneer Medical Center is a 25-bed critical access hospital, essentially the county hospital for Sweet Grass County, Montana:
Population 4200. We are in a beautiful valley along the Yellowstone River, between three mountain ranges, just north of Yellowstone National Park. We serve our neighbors (ranchers, skilled trades people and active retirees) and the many tourists who come here on their way to Yellowstone and Glacier National Parks, or to fish the Yellowstone, hike, bike, hunt or just get away from overcrowded places.

Big Timber is a vibrant and welcoming small town, an hour from Bozeman and Billings. Our schools are highly rated, with high community support.

Pioneer Medical Center has an immediate opening for a full-time licensed Physical Therapist to join our hospital & clinics’ patient care team.

PURPOSE/DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:

To provide direct patient care and support activities, which build and maintain a rehab center of excellence. Provides patient care. Completes documentation according to established procedures. Is involved in support duties as assigned. Contributes to professional development of self and others. Enhances disciplinary team through professional skills and knowledge. Aids in building and maintaining a reputation for excellence in the department by contributing as a professional member of the staff.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Supports and models behaviors consistent with Pioneer Medical Center’s mission, vision, values, code of business conduct and service expectations. Meets all mandatory organizational and departmental requirements. Maintains competency in all organizational, departmental, and outside agency standards as it relates to the environment, employee, patient safety or job performance.
  • Demonstrates positive, supportive, and caring behaviors in communication with patients/residents, families, visitors, physicians, staff, and others.
  • Develops collaborative relationships with physicians, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners to enhance quality practice.
  • Provides ethical, safe, and quality Physical Therapy care/treatment for residents/patients per standard of practice set forth in the American Physical Therapy Association Code of Ethics and Guide for Professional Conduct as well as the State of Montana Physical Therapy Examiners Rules and Statutes, and PMC policies and procedures.
    • Develops appropriate plans of care based on clinical assessment.
    • Provides comprehensive, appropriate patient interventions in accordance with the patient’s individual treatment plan.
    • Provides patient education to patients and families.
    • Communicates with other therapists and other health care team members regarding patient progress, problems, and plans.
    • Instructs patient’s family members or nursing staff in specified follow through programs.
    • Demonstrates knowledge of appropriate resources for problem solving and clinical protocol.
  • Produces timely and accurate documentation of all patient care sessions in a timely manner and provides ethical charges/billing information to Patient Accounts Manager.
  • Consistently demonstrates an interdisciplinary approach to patient care. This includes but is not limited to:
    • Actively participates in patient care conferences.
    • Collaborates with and informs facility staff in areas of patient progress.
    • Educates members of the team in areas of expertise.
    • Works within the facility to teach documentation practices, which assist the therapy team.
    • Communicates effectively with discharge planners.
    • Integrates activities based on input from patient and family members into treatment sessions.
  • Contributes to professional development of self and others. This includes but is not limited to:
    • Utilizes continuing education assistance to achieve targeted quality improvements.
    • Interacts with peers at local acute hospitals and other environments, when appropriate.
    • Attends seminars and workshops, and reads professional journals, to stay current in physical therapy practices.
