POSITION

PURPOSE

The Certified Nurse Aide provides comprehensive, continuous, coordinated, and individualized nursing care to all Madison Valley Medical Center patients. Must work collaboratively with all other ancillary medical departments and medical staff for the purpose of providing patient-centered care. Employee performs all duties in a manner consistent with the mission and values of MVMC.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assists in answering patient call lights in a timely and efficient manner and performs patient vital signs as directed and ordered.
  • Will be an integral part of the change of shift patient report to promote a "team" approach to patient care.
  • Responsible for diet orders to the Manor, as well as patient meal and tray service with possible patient feeding assistance.
  • Assists the patient with daily bathing, clean linen service, safe patient ambulation, range of motion (ROM) exercises and other mobility or aspects of activities of daily living as directed by the RN
  • Promotes safe, effective infection control measures for patient cares. i.e., safe linen handling, appropriate peri care, assistance with room cleaning post patient discharge, etc.
  • Assistance in gathering and documenting pertinent patient information (i.e., Input and Output (I & O), Vital signs, Nurse Aide Shift Assessment, Quick Registration, NAC Duties)
  • Perform other nursing and related hospital duties as necessary and requested.
  • Assuring the cleanliness of patient care areas to include patient bathrooms, tub room, patient lounge and activity areas and soiled and clean utility rooms.
  • Communicates clearly both verbal and written.
  • Clear understanding of MVMC policy and procedures.
  • May be utilized for that patient with specific 1:1 needs.
  • Assure appropriate stocking of patient care areas as needed, i.e., patient refrigerators, multiple patient care carts, etc.
  • Performs other job duties as necessary. Assists in other areas throughout the medical center as needed, i.e., central supply, environmental services, etc.
  • Acts as an advocate for the patient/family.
  • Promotes a safe environment for patient care and all employees.
  • Satisfactory time and attendance
  • Expected to develop and maintain professional and courteous working relationships with all other staff, patients, health professionals, students, vendors, outside resources and volunteers of the organization.
  • Complete full registrations according to Revenue Cycle Management policies and procedures.
  • Maintain all pertinent logs.
  • Other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION, LICENSE/REGISTRATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
  • Certified Nursing Assistant License.
  • BLS Certification within 6 months of hire required.
  • Annual Safety Training.
  • Annual N-95 Mask Fitting.
  • Minimum one year in the medical field preferred.
SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS OR SKILLS
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Basic working knowledge of PC skills required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

Extensive standing and walking with occasional reaching stooping, kneeling, and crouching. Must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull at least 50 pounds. Very good close vision and the ability to identify and distinguish color. Some risk of radiation exposure. Some risk of electrical shock. Work is in a clean hospital environment. Noise level is quiet to moderate. Frequent keyboarding and repetitive movements.

Category Classifications Have Been Developed To Assist Employees In Determining Their Risk For Occupational Exposure To Bloodborne Pathogens. These Categories Are

Category I Employee will have occupational exposure to blood borne pathogens in the performance of their routine jobs.

Category II Employee may have occupational exposure to blood borne pathogens in the performance of their routine jobs.

Category III Employee will not have exposure to blood borne pathogens in the performance of their routine job.
