Sleep Lab Polysomnographer performs and monitors sleep studies in a clinical setting. The role involves scoring polysomnograms, maintaining equipment, and delivering diagnostic reports to physicians.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform and schedule a variety of sleep studies including PSG, MSLT, and MWT

  • Score, evaluate, and archive polysomnograms according to established protocols

  • Operate, calibrate, and maintain sleep lab equipment ensuring optimal functionality

  • Monitor patients throughout testing to ensure accuracy, comfort, and safety

  • Prepare comprehensive reports for physicians and referring providers

  • Consult with healthcare providers, home care companies, and patients regarding diagnosis, treatment plans, and outcomes

  • Provide patient education about sleep disorders, procedures, and post-study expectations

  • Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with medical necessity and insurance documentation requirements

  • Support the mission and philosophy of the facility and adhere to departmental policies and safety procedures

  • Assist in quality improvement (QI) activities and ongoing clinical training

Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care program or NBRC certification

  • RPSGT certification or ability to obtain within one year of hire

  • Working knowledge of patient age-specific care

  • Proficient in administering oxygen therapy, CPAP, BiPAP, and other positive-pressure breathing devices

  • Skilled in performing EKG, aerosol therapy, EEG, pulmonary function testing, and arterial blood gas analysis (if certified)

  • Knowledge of patient safety standards, infection control, and emergency response protocols

Preferred

Skills:
  • Prior experience in sleep lab or respiratory care

RPSGT certified or can obtain within one year. Experienced operating PSG, MSLT, and MWT equipment. Skilled in patient monitoring, reporting, and equipment maintenance
