Day Shift with Call Rotation

Job Description

The Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) is responsible for preparing specimens and operating automated analyzers, as well as evaluating test results and performing manual tests according to detailed instructions. This position encompasses all areas of the laboratory, with a focus on ensuring quality control, proficiency testing, and adherence to Quality Assurance standards. Additionally, this role involves participation in facility performance improvement projects and requires the ability to work unsupervised in an on-call situation.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare specimens and operate automated analyzers.
  • Evaluate test results and perform manual tests.
  • Ensure laboratory quality control and proficiency testing.
  • Participate in facility performance improvement projects.
  • Work in all areas of the laboratory, including Microbiology and Immunohematology.
  • Work unsupervised during on-call duties.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
  • Degree in Biology or Chemistry.
  • ASCP or equivalent certification.
  • Licensure in the State of Montana as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist.
  • Knowledge of routine laboratory procedures and the ability to research and set up new procedures.
  • Experience in all areas of the laboratory, including Microbiology and Immunohematology.
  • Familiarity with computers, specialized analyzers, and relevant equipment.
  • Understanding of CLIA, compliance, HIPAA regulations, and budgeting.
