Join the senior leadership team of an independent Critical Access Hospital, Rural Health Clinic, and Long-Term Care organization serving rural southeastern Montana. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the Human Resources Director plays a vital role in shaping organizational culture, workforce strategy, employee engagement while helping ensure the long-term success of healthcare services that sustain our community.

This is a hands-on leadership position with broad organizational influence and visibility. The Human Resources Director partners closely with the CEO, department leaders, providers, and staff to lead recruitment, employee relations, benefits administration, compliance, workforce development, and key organizational initiatives. The position also provides administrative leadership for medical staff services, including provider credentialing, privileging, and medical staff governance, while serving as a trusted advisor on workforce and organizational matters.

What

You'll Do

In this role, you'll have the opportunity to:

  • Provide leadership for Human Resources programs and initiatives, including recruitment, onboarding, employee engagement, workforce development, retention, and organizational culture.
  • Partner with the CEO and leadership team on workforce planning, staffing strategies, organizational development, and key organizational initiatives.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to employees, managers, and leaders on employee relations, performance management, workplace concerns, and HR best practices.
  • Oversee core Human Resources functions, including compensation, benefits administration, leave management, personnel records, policy development, and regulatory compliance.
  • Coordinate employee training, professional development, recognition programs, and performance evaluation processes.
  • Support organizational survey readiness, quality initiatives, performance improvement efforts, and regulatory compliance activities.
  • Prepare and present Human Resources, workforce, medical staff, quality, and other applicable reports to organizational leadership and the Board of Directors.
  • Oversee provider credentialing and privileging activities, including primary source verification, appointment and reappointment processes, regulatory compliance, and maintenance of credentialing records.
  • Coordinate Medical Executive Committee and medical staff governance activities, including meeting support, credentialing reviews, provider communications, and maintenance of Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations, privilege forms, and related documents.
  • Serve as a liaison among providers, medical staff leadership, administration, contracted services, and external organizations while identifying opportunities to strengthen organizational processes and administrative operations.

We're looking for someone who can build relationships, solve problems, stay organized, and comfortably manage a wide variety of responsibilities. This position is ideal for an HR professional who enjoys being involved throughout the organization rather than working within one narrow area of Human Resources.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • 3+ years of Human Resources experience.
  • Strong knowledge of employee relations and HR best practices.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.

    Ability to independently manage competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Ability to handle confidential employee and provider information with professionalism and discretion.
  • Healthcare Human Resources experience preferred.
  • Experience with provider credentialing, privileging, or medical staff administration preferred.
  • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, SPHR, CPCS, or similar professional certification is a plus.
