Yellowstone Club’s Golf Course Maintenance department is currently seeking candidates for a Winter Maintenance Operator for the upcoming Winter season! Our Winter employment months are November through April.
PurposeThe Winter Maintenance Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient execution of snow removal, terrain grooming, and ice rink maintenance. The role involves operating and performing minor maintenance on heavy equipment, ensuring that all managed roads, trails, parking areas, and ice surfaces are safe and functional for guests and residents. Operators must monitor weather conditions and be prepared to respond promptly to weather events, which may require working early mornings, late nights, or during holidays.
EssentialJob Functions
- Operate a variety of equipment, including snowplows, spreaders, snow blowers, and ice resurfacing machines (e.g., Zamboni), to clear and maintain winter surfaces.
- Perform routine snow removal on designated roads, driveways, parking lots, sidewalks, and walkways to ensure safe passage.
- Apply de‑icing agents like salt, sand, or brine to treat surfaces and prevent ice buildup.
- Groom snowshoe and cross‑country trails using snowmobiles with specialized attachments (e.g., tillers, blades) to maintain high‑quality snow conditions.
- Maintain ice rinks by resurfacing, edging, cleaning, and repairing the ice surface to specified standards.
- Perform minor emergency repairs and preventative maintenance on equipment.
- Ensure all work is performed in compliance with safety procedures and protocols, including the use of proper personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Work collaboratively with other team members to meet deadlines and respond to emergency situations.

- Experience operating heavy equipment:
Proven experience with heavy machinery such as snowplows, front‑end loaders, snowcats, and ice resurface rs is strongly preferred. On‑the‑job training may be provided. - Physical stamina:
Ability to perform physically demanding tasks for extended periods, such as shoveling, lifting up to 50 lbs., and working outdoors in extreme weather conditions. - Adaptability:
Must be able to work flexible hours, including early mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays, and adapt to changing weather conditions and work schedules. - Communication skills:
Ability to follow both written and verbal instructions and communicate effectively with supervisors and team members.
- Valid driver's license: A clean driving record is required; some positions may require a Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
