Superintendent Supervises:
Consults with building principal(s) in the supervision of any building activity coordinator(s), coach(es), advisor(s), and any others involved in the operation of school activity programs. All aspects of district activity concessions including implementation, coordinating, assigning, planning, and accountability of district activity concessions.

Terms Of Employment:
Compensation and work year to be established by negotiations with the School Board. Evaluation:
To be performed in accordance with School Board Policy.

Job Goal:
To provide students an opportunity to participate in an activities program that will develop skills, a sense of worth and accomplishment, and a knowledge and understanding of the enjoyment and benefits of activity program participation. To promote an attitude of cooperation and teamwork with the community and all resources, organizations, and staff members which organize and conduct student activities.

Performance Responsibilities: (may include but not limited to the following):
Administer the activities program within the policies and rules of the District's Board of Trustees, Class B Conference, and Montana High School Association. Provide leadership in the recruitment and hiring of qualified staff for all positions within the activities program. Provide leadership and consistency in the process of evaluation for all personnel in the activities program. Develop and administer staff development programs in the area of activities coaching and management.

Develop activities program policies and guidelines that meet established district educational goals, priorities, and objectives. Prepare and administer the District activities program budget and provide leadership in the maintenance and transactions of the building Extra-Curricular Activities accounts. Responsible for supervising all aspects of district activity concessions including implementation, coordinating, assigning, planning, and accountability of district activity concessions. Responsible for working with Facility Services, the School Board, the Superintendent and other administrators in the planning and maintenance of all district activity facilities.

Ensure that all activity programs function equitably and as prescribed by MHSA. Develop all interscholastic game schedules and coordinate those schedules with other building activities and the academic calendar. Responsible for the day-to-day operation of the activities program regarding facilities, officials, workers, travel arrangements, and financial operations. Provide the accounting and ordering process for the purchases of all equipment from the building budget accounts.

Maintain records of the activity department, such as participation, scheduling and financial. Advise and administer all district conference and MHSA eligibility rules. Responsible for managing all district-wide tournaments and meets, arranging for playoff events, and managing other events as directed by the Board of Trustees and Superintendent. Coordinate central office activities staff and the hiring and supervision of technical staff, as needed.

Represent the district at all local, regional, state, and conference meetings as directed by the Board of Trustees and Superintendent. Act as a liaison for the Activities Department with the Board, and any Parent Advisory groups, and community organizations, as deemed necessary. Promote equitable publicity for all activities and manage news releases and public information regarding the operation of the Activities Department.

Interpret board policy to the extend necessary to provide guidance for the schools and personnel involved in the activities program.

This position will require positive leadership and communication skills, with the appropriate conflict resolution skills and/or training and a rapport with all staff associated with the school district and community groups. Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner; gather and analyze information skillfully; develop alternative solutions; work well in group problem solving situations; use reason even when dealing with emotional topics.
