The SOD Chief of Field Operations is a full-time position responsible for operating and maintaining the highly technical and complex network of CSKT Dams Early Warning Systems (EWS), and coordinate early warning system activities with the Safety of Dams (SOD) Program.
DUTIES- Schedule and attend bi-weekly meetings with the SOD Program Manager.
- Prepare and maintain an EWS maintenance spreadsheet to ensure annual maintenance or deferred maintenance is performed on an efficient basis.
- Coordinate and assist BIA with early warning system upgrades and equipment installation.
- Conduct necessary periodic and annual maintenance on all EWS facilities.
- Directly supervises CSKT SOD full-time or temporary hires that aid in EWS and instrumentation duties and indirectly supervises SOD inspectors, SOD Project Engineers, Road Technicians, SOD/Roads laborers, and any other CSKT Program positions as directed by the SOD Program Manager.
- Prepares annual budgets for all EWS facilities and field instrumentation no later than each May for review with SOD Program Manager for eventual inclusion in SOD Program budget requests for the following fiscal year.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS- High school diploma or GED/HiSet is required; an Associate or Bachelor's degree is preferred.
- Must have at least ten (10) years' experience working independently with various hand tools, working outdoors, performing technical projects, and troubleshooting problems.
- Experience in electrical and instrumentation systems, early warning systems or functional monitoring of dams is preferred.
- Required to obtain and maintain additional certifications as necessary for SOD Program.
- Possession of a valid driver's license.
- Must wear Tribal Government identification and safety apparel when conducting field activities.
- Required to successfully complete a certified defensive driving course approved by the department upon hire and every three (3) years thereafter.
