Job SummaryWe are seeking a skilled and dedicated Equipment Operator to join our coal mining team. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating and maintaining various types of mining equipment and loading/unloading trucks and trains while ensuring adherence to all health and safety standards as required by Signal Peak Energy and MSHA. The Equipment Operator is also tasked with maintaining pond levels, roads, and ditches, managing stockpiles, handling special projects, and performing equipment maintenance.
This role requires technical expertise, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to safety and operational excellence.
- Pre-shift load outs.
- Load trains and check for proper weight distribution in cars.
- Email manifest to coal desk.
- Clean tracks of coal.
- Clean silos and adjust flashing.
- Manage stockpiles.
- Keep dozers, crushers, feeders, and belts clean and in good working condition.
- Push coal to feeders for crushers.
- Clean tunnels and belt lines to prevent accumulations.
- Move and handle pipes manually and with a forklift.
- Turn pumps on/off.
- Clean mud from ponds.
- Haul mud to reject piles.
- Gravel and grade roads.
- Remove snow from roads.
- Experience operating heavy machinery, preferably in a mining or construction environment.
- Basic knowledge of mining equipment and machinery operation is a plus.
- Understanding of safety regulations and procedures.
- Physical stamina and the ability to perform manual labor in challenging conditions.
- Ability to work in confined spaces and at various heights.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Willingness to work shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Walking, standing, and sitting for extended periods of time.
- Lifting, bending, and stooping occasionally.
- Ability to lift, carry, push and/or pull over 60 pounds.
- Ability to work well under extreme weather conditions (wind, cold, and heat).
- Ability to safely operate around moving equipment and hazardous situations.
- Ability to wear safety equipment such as hearing/eye protection, steel-toed boots, and hardhats.
