Job

Position Overview

The Production Supervisor coordinates and oversees production operations involved in the manufacturing process. This role works 12‑hour rotating shifts (days and overnight) with a cycle of 4 days on, 4 days off.

Key Responsibilities
  • Follow plans and schedules of mill and kiln operations in coordination with maintenance, quality control, shipping, and production personnel.
  • Establish, assign, and communicate job responsibilities and schedules for shift personnel involved in the production process.
  • Supervise and evaluate job performance, monitor attendance, and maintain records.
  • Participate in and conduct regular safety meetings and training sessions.
  • Conduct safety inspections and order safety equipment to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Monitor kiln burning operations and raw mill and finish mill grinding operations.
  • Review production data and prepare reports.
  • Assist employees with production problems and ensure satisfactory operations.
  • Assist in resolving union problems and grievances.
  • Supervise record‑keeping and monitoring of BIF operating parameters as generated from the plant control room.
  • Serve as Alternate Emergency Coordinator for the Emergency Response Team.
  • Attend RCRA training for waste‑derived fuel activities.
  • Order tools and supplies needed for the manufacturing process.
  • Request and supervise repairs and preventive maintenance on mills, kilns, and related machinery.
  • Provide regular information to management regarding current operations and manpower status.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Preferred: 3+ years of experience in production with emphasis on process control in a similar industry.
  • Minimum vocational or technical experience in production, process control, or a related field.
  • Ability to lead and manage others.
  • Ability to manage conflict effectively.
  • Knowledge of production operations, kiln‑burning techniques, and related processes.
  • Knowledge of mill grinding, process control design, inventory estimation using geometric calculations, and machinery utilized in production.
  • Knowledge of air permit regulations and safety requirements.
  • Strong decision‑making and problem‑solving skills with high attention to detail.
  • Physical ability to climb stairs and ladders, walk over rough surfaces, stand for long periods, bend and kneel.
  • Willingness to refer to supervisor for guidance on unusual problems or circumstances.
  • Ability to make sound independent judgments regularly.
  • Ability to work under general supervision on assigned objectives.
