Position SummaryTo provide quality obstetric, neonatal, and gynecologic nursing care in an environment that strives to meet patient needs on a holistic level. This is done by incorporating emotional support and education with superior medical and nursing care with the aim of achieving patient well‑being.
Position Requirements- Licensed by the State of Tennessee.
- Earned a nursing diploma or degree from a college or university.
- BLS certification required within 90 days of hire.
- At least one year of perinatal experience preferred.
- Certified Lactation Consultant preferred.
- NRP certification required within six months of hire.
- ACLS certification required or agree to obtain within six months of hire.
- Level I, II fetal monitoring required within one year of hire.
- Care of the obstetric patient – Level I.
- Care of the high‑risk obstetric patient – Level II.
- Advanced fetal monitoring or AWHONN intermediate fetal monitoring.
- Able to function in stressful situations.
- Able to return to work within one hour when on call.

Equipment and Skills TrainingStandard patient care equipment for services provided, including a Network Computer System, Neonatal Cardiac Monitor, Fetal Monitor, Intrauterine Pressure Catheter, Intran device, Phototherapy Lights (Bililights and Biliblanket), Infant Ventilator, Ohio NICU Isolettes and Transport Isolettes, Doppler, Flash Autoclave, Infant Security System, Newborn Photo Service Equipment, and Omnicell Medication System. The role requires working well under pressure, functioning independently or dependently, and applying basic nursing knowledge flexibly across various settings.
PhysicalEnvironment
Perinatal/OB‑GYN unit with patient population ranging from less than one year of age to ninety‑nine years of age.
Physical Effort- Able to communicate in English verbally and legibly.
- Able to stand or work for up to twelve hours a day.
- Able to lift with assistance up to 250 pounds.
Performs a comprehensive assessment on all patients within the appropriate time of admission utilizing skills of observation, communication, and examination; including data obtained from patient, family, and other members of the healthcare team.
