Position Summary
Plans, implements, and evaluates pre‑and post‑anesthesia patient care and pain management services in a timely and accurate manner.
Key Responsibilities- Perform comprehensive assessment of all patients upon admission to the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU).
- Develop and implement individualized care plans, nursing diagnoses, and interventions.
- Collaborate with surgical team members to coordinate patient care and ensure timely delivery.
- Provide education, emotional and psychosocial support to patients and families.
- Administer medications safely, handle equipment (epidural pumps, Omnicell, Meditech, etc.).
- Document accurately and promptly, including reassessment and modification of care plans.
- Assist with transport, positioning, and lift patients as needed.
- Participate in staff development and training of new staff.
- Bachelor's or associate's degree in Nursing from an accredited institution.
- Valid Registered Nurse license in Tennessee.
- ACLS certification (must obtain if not currently certified).
- One year of experience in PACU Phase I/II, CCU or Emergency Room settings.
- BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
- PALS certification within 90 days of hire.
- Ability to respond within thirty minutes for on‑call requirements.
- Proficiency with Omnicell Medication System, Meditech Order Entry and related technology.
- Strong ability to perform under pressure and adapt to varying clinical settings.
- Ability to stand/work up to 12 hours, lift up to 250 lbs with assistance, transport patients.
- Strong communication skills in English, written and verbal.
Work in a Post Anesthesia Care Unit/Holding Area serving all age groups, from newborn to >99 years old. Ability to stand for up to 12 hours, lift up to 250 lbs with assistance, transport patients.
