Description:

The Registered Nurse works in a collaborative and cooperative relationship with other members of the healthcare team. Plans and implements patient and family education. Responsible for assessing the needs and initiating appropriate interventions for patients. Employees must have on-time completion of all required education as assigned. Collects comprehensive data pertinent to the patient's health or situation. Analyzes the assessment data to determine diagnoses or issues.

Identifies expected outcomes for a plan individualized to the patient or the situation. Develops a plan that prescribes strategies and alternatives to attain expected outcomes. Implements the identified plan of care. Employs strategies to promote health and a safe environment. Systematically enhances the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice. Attains knowledge and competency that reflects current nursing practice. Evaluates one's own nursing practice in relation to professional practice standards, guidelines, relevant statutes, rules, and regulations.

Interacts with and contributes to the professional development of peers and colleagues. Collaborates with patients, families, and others in the conduct of nursing practice. Integrates ethical provisions in all areas of practice. Integrates research findings into practice. Provides leadership in the professional practice setting and the profession. Complies with policies, procedures, protocols, and guidelines related to care for patients with hyperacute and acute stroke.

Participates in annual stroke education and verifiable trauma-related education as required. Demonstrates sound judgment, patience, and maintains a professional demeanor at all times. Ability to work in a busy and stressful environment. Possesses creativity, problem analysis, and decision-making skills. Exercises tact, discretion, sensitivity, and maintains confidentiality. Self-directed and completes assignments accurately, thoroughly, and with minimal oversight. Strong emotional intelligence, interpersonal skills, and teamwork abilities.

Regular and sustained attendance is required. The position may necessitate working beyond standard hours, including weekends and after-hours shifts. On-call work may be required to respond promptly to organizational, patient, or staff needs. Physical requirements include lifting, sitting, standing, walking, climbing, bending, and reaching. Must be able to handle exposure to blood borne pathogens and other potential hazards in healthcare settings.

Job tasks may involve handling various chemicals, medications, and infectious diseases. Emotionally challenging situations may arise, such as dealing with distressed patients or difficult family interactions.
