Sierra’s Ski Patrol is a team of industry‑leading professionals dedicated to guest safety. As a Trail Crew member you will monitor mountain areas for injured, lost, reckless skiers and snowboarders, identify hazards, assist skiers, enforce safety regulations, and perform trail maintenance tasks.

• Patrol and monitor assigned mountain areas regularly to ensure all trails are properly marked, identify injured, lost, reckless and out‑of‑control skiers and snowboarders, and report weather/skiing conditions, traffic, and potential hazards.
• Actively monitor traffic flow at designated spots, caution reckless customers or employees, and take direct action with uncooperative skiers or boarders.
• Serve as a “Goodwill Ambassador” to the skiing public, providing assistance similar to Ski Patrol personnel.
• Stop reckless skiers or snowboarders and enforce company safety regulations, including appropriate disciplinary action.
• Perform trail maintenance: check for hazards and missing signs, put up signs, cut brush, pack down and shovel snow, set fences, and close trails when necessary.
• Execute trail‑closing procedures, patrol heavily travelled trails, and assist in lift evacuation.
• Maintain tools and equipment used for rescue and trail maintenance and keep the base first‑aid facilities functional.
• Contribute to team effort through job sharing, maintaining resort cleanliness, participating in safety meetings, accepting diverse assignments, and maintaining a positive, friendly attitude in all interactions.
• Adapt to flexible working hours.

Must be an advanced or expert level skier/snowboarder capable of skiing all terrain types under all weather conditions. Ski experience is preferred over snowboard experience due to the physical nature of the job duties and requirements.

Education and/or

Experience:

• EMT, OEC, or Wilderness First Responder preferred.
• High school diploma, GED, or one to three months of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language

Skills:

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.

Mathematical

Skills:

• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages and to interpret graphs.

Reasoning Ability:

• Apply common sense to carry out written, oral, or diagram instructions.
• Resolve problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

• Resort certification on necessary equipment.

Physical Demands:

• Stand, talk, and use hands frequently.
• Reach with hands and arms, climb or balance occasionally.
• Lift and move up to 25 pounds frequently; lift and move up to 75 pounds occasionally.

Work Environment:

• Regular exposure to guest/employee interaction, moving mechanical parts, and outside weather conditions.
• Occasional exposure to high, precarious places.
• Moderate noise level.
