Overview

Join an energetic, dynamic food and beverage team that is passionate about providing delicious and diverse cuisine in a fun, fast‑paced resort environment. The role focuses on maintaining cleanliness and organization within the kitchen and dining areas of a food and beverage outlet.

Responsibilities
  • Greet customers in a friendly and courteous manner. Answer and anticipate guest concerns and needs.
  • Arrive at work on time, neat and ready to work.
  • Maintain a clean and organized guest eating area in a fast‑paced resort restaurant.
  • Maintain a stocked work area with supplies including paper goods, condiments, utensils, and other necessary items specific to your work location.
  • Maintain trash areas, including taking trash outside to a designated area on a regular basis.
  • Wash dishes as needed to keep the kitchen area clean and operational. Provide general cleaning assistance throughout the shift.
  • Contribute to the team effort by participating in job sharing, assuming responsibility for the cleanliness of the resort and safety of guests and employees; participating in safety meetings; accepting diverse assignments; maintaining a positive and friendly attitude and demeanor in all internal and external interactions.
  • Meet service level objectives and department goals as set forth by the immediate supervisor.

  • Protect the safety of self, co‑workers, and Sierra‑at‑Tahoe Resort guests at all times.
  • Report any potentially harmful equipment or situations to the immediate supervisor without delay.
  • Report safety‑related accidents and incidents at once to the immediate supervisor.
  • Follow all company and department safety policies and procedures.
  • Operate equipment in a safe manner that will not lead to injury of yourself or others.

    Education and/or Experience
    • High school diploma or GED preferred; or one to three months of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
    Language Skills
    • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
    • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
    • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
    Mathematical Skills
    • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
    • Ability to compute rates, ratios, and percent and to draw and interpret graphs.
    Reasoning Ability
    • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
    • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
    Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
    • CA Food Handlers card required.
    • Resort certification on any necessary equipment.
    • Employees positioned that require skiing or snowboarding must be able to pass an on‑site ski or ride exam before being able to ski or ride for work (specific to on‑mountain restaurants).
    Physical Demands

    Regularly required to stand, walk, bend, squat, talk, and hear. Frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Occasionally required to climb, kneel, crawl, crouch, stoop or balance. Must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

    Work Environment

    Exposure to guest/employee interaction, moving mechanical parts, high altitude, and changing indoor conditions (close‑quarters, wet, humid/steamy, slick, illuminated, hot/sharp/loud surfaces and/or equipment). Occasionally exposed to rapidly changing outdoor environments. Noise level in the workplace is usually moderate to loud.
