Diesel Mechanic - CNG & Heavy Duty Fleet

Position Summary

The Fleet Maintenance Technician reports to the Fleet Maintenance Manager and Vehicle Maintenance Supervisor. The Technician is personally responsible for diagnosing and repairing mechanical issues on the existing fleet.

• Perform assigned repairs and preventive maintenance tasks in accordance with Standard Repair Times (SRTs), ensuring accuracy and compliance with safety and quality standards.
• Conduct senior‑level repairs and preventive maintenance tasks.
• Diagnose, inspect, and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems on vehicles and equipment.
• Perform safety inspections and checks on vehicles and equipment.
• Provide roadside emergency diagnosis and repair as directed by supervision.
• Complete required paperwork documenting parts usage and repair times.
• Attend and successfully complete all safety and compliance training.
• Perform all tasks safely in accordance with OSHA rules and regulations.
• Behave professionally and appropriately at all times.

• High School Diploma and/or GED.
• Familiarity with DOT CHP repair processes and controls for Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.
• Ability to effectively communicate mechanical issues and required repairs.
• Ability to read and comprehend service and technical information.
• Valid Class C driver’s license and acceptable driver’s record.
• Personal tools.
• Ability to perform physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.

• 6+ years of experience in heavy truck equipment maintenance and repair or equivalent trade school and/or technical certifications.
• Trade school certification.
• Bilingual English/Spanish.
• Air brake certification.
• CNG alternative fuel experience/training.
• CDL Class A/B.
• Computer diagnostic skills (Cummins Insite/Allison transmissions).
• Forklift operator training/certification.
• ASE Medium/Heavy Truck Certifications (T2‑T8).
• CNG Certification (Compressed Natural Gas Vehicle Certification).

Salary: $35.76 - $39.60 per hour.
