We are seeking a reliable and experienced Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for safely operating a variety of heavy machinery, including excavators, bulldozers, loaders, and backhoes, on civil, utility, residential, and demolition projects. Your primary duties will include performing earthmoving, grading, trenching, and material handling while working around underground utilities and other job site hazards.
You will also conduct routine equipment inspections, perform light maintenance, and assist with minor repairs to keep machinery operating efficiently. This position plays a key role in ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to specification. Strong communication skills are important, as you will work closely with supervisors and team members to coordinate daily tasks and maintain a safe and productive job site.
- Safely operate excavators, bulldozers, backhoes, loaders, and other heavy equipment. (No smoking in vehicles or equipment)
- Perform earthmoving, grading, trenching, and demolition for a variety of projects.
- Read and interpret site plans, blueprints, and grade stakes.
- Work safely around utilities, underground infrastructure, and other job site hazards.
- Load and transport materials as needed.
- Perform routine equipment inspections, maintenance, and minor repairs.
- Follow all OSHA and company safety protocols, including fall protection and lift operation.
- Communicate with site supervisors and team members to ensure smooth project execution.
- All other job duties as assigned.
- Previous experience operating heavy equipment in civil, utility, residential, or demolition projects preferred.
- Class A CDL is a plus but not required.
- Ability to read and understand grading plans, trenching layouts, and utility maps.
- Familiarity with OSHA regulations, fall protection, and heavy equipment safety.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and handle physically demanding tasks.
- Willingness to travel for out-of-town projects (hotel and dinner covered by the company).
- Background check and drug screen required upon offer of employment.
- Full-time, Monday to Friday
- Overtime and weekend work as needed
- Travel required for some projects (hotel and meals covered)
Job
Wage: $25-$27/hour
