Mechatronics Junior Technician Apprentice – JLL

As a Mechatronics Junior Technician Apprentice, you will learn to perform the job of Mechatronics Junior Technician and install, alter, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electronic, mechanical, computer, control, and robotics/automation equipment, systems, and components in a complex Fulfilment/Distribution Center through a comprehensive classroom, laboratory, and on‑the‑job learning program. You will also train in and adhere to all health and safety policies and procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Follow work processes closely at school and on the shop floor to ensure a safe environment while job shadowing with a technical advisor in OJL.
  • Communicate and work well within a team environment both in school and in OJL.
  • Work capably with technical documentation.
  • Work capably with a computer both in school and on the shop floor.
  • Learn to perform work with material transfer conveyors by following the lead of experienced technical advisors.
  • Learn to understand, locate and repair malfunctions, removing, replacing, adjusting, and returning components to service following the guidance of experienced technical advisors.
  • Learn PLCs and work with Automation Engineers in a laboratory environment.
  • Learn to perform work with robotic systems and collaborate with Robotics Engineers and OEMs in a real environment.
  • Combine electronic, mechanical, computer and control skills at the workplace.
  • Work with complex high‑performance manufacturing systems, analysing, troubleshooting and repairing systems to maintain process efficiency.
  • Understand and analyse the technical specifications of mechatronic systems, subsystems, modules and components; perform scheduled, predictive, and preventive maintenance; use troubleshooting skills to identify and prevent problems and failures; systematically and intelligently make repairs; incorporate relevant technical literature; coordinate with other technicians involved in installing or maintaining equipment.
  • Install, repair, adjust, and test equipment and components to ensure that systems function properly.
  • Communicate with machine operators and operate equipment to detect problems, analyse malfunctions, and verify issues; observe and incorporate safety standards and regulations required for safe operation of the system.
Qualifications
  • 18 years old or older with a high school diploma or GED.
  • Must meet the minimum qualifying score on a Mechanical Aptitude Test.
  • Ability to travel to attend 12‑week training at one of the three sites in Indiana, Pennsylvania, Georgia, North Carolina or Texas.
  • Basic computer skills (email, word processing, spreadsheets, internet browser).
  • Basic troubleshooting skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1+ year of experience in basic preventive/predictive maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of industrial machines.
  • 1+ year of experience with mechanical and/or electrical basic components.
  • 1+ year of experience with compressors and pneumatics.
Physical Demands

Repetitive bending, crouching, kneeling, reaching, twisting, sitting, standing, walking, and lifting parts and tools weighing on average 20 pounds, occasionally up to 49 pounds. Dexterity in eye/hand coordination, foot pedals, manual touch and wrist motion. Working conditions may include small spaces, dust, fumes/odors, hot/cold temperatures, noise, vibration, long‑duration standing on concrete, wet or uneven surfaces, cramped positions under/behind machinery, working at heights, pushing/pulling wheeled equipment and carts up to 100+ pounds, and maneuvering awkward or bulky equipment parts.

Estimated compensation for this position: 54,080.00 – 55,224.00 USD per year. Final compensation packages are determined by candidate qualifications, location, market conditions, and internal considerations.
