Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
What this job involves:
As a Mechatronics Junior Technician Apprentice, you will learn to perform the job of a Mechatronics Junior Technician and install, alter, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electronic, mechanical, computer, control, and robotics/automation equipment, systems, and components in a complex Fulfilment/Distribution Center through a comprehensive classroom, laboratory, and on‑the‑job learning program. You will be trained in and adhere to all health and safety policies and procedures.
Work Performed:As a Mechatronics Junior Technician Apprentice: follows work processes closely at school and on the shop floor, ensures a safe environment while job shadowing with a technical advisor, communicates and works well within a team, works with technical documentation and a computer, learns to work with material transfer conveyors, identifies, removes, and replaces malfunctions, learns PLCs and works with Automation Engineers in a laboratory environment, and works with robotic systems under the guidance of Robotics Engineers and OEMs.
As a Mechatronics Junior Technician: combines electronic, mechanical, computer, and control skills at the workplace; works with complex high-performance manufacturing systems, analyses, troubleshoots, and repairs systems to maintain process efficiency; understands technical specifications of mechatronic systems, performs scheduled, predictive, and preventive maintenance, identifies and prevents problems, incorporates technical literature, coordinates with other technicians, installs, repairs, adjusts, tests equipment, and observes safety standards.
Required Qualifications:- 18 years old or older with a high school diploma or GED.
- Minimum qualifying score on a Mechanical Aptitude Test.
- Ability to travel to attend a 12‑week training program at one of the following locations:
Indiana, Pennsylvania, Georgia, North Carolina, or Texas. - Basic computer skills (email, word processing, spreadsheets, internet).
- Basic troubleshooting skills.
- 1+ year of experience in basic preventive/predictive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair methods of industrial machines.
- 1+ year of experience in mechanical and/or electrical basic components.
- 1+ year of experience with compressors and pneumatics.
- Repetitive bending, crouching, kneeling, reaching, twisting, sitting, standing, and walking.
- Lifting parts and tools averaging 20 pounds, occasionally up to 49 pounds.
- Dexterity in eye/hand coordination and wrist motion.
- Working in small spaces, dust, fumes/odors, hot/cold temperatures, inside/outside noise, vibration, standing on concrete for long hours, and wet or uneven surfaces.
- Standing/walking on concrete for 10+ hour shifts.
- Working in cramped positions under/behind machinery, at heights, pushing/pulling wheeled equipment and carts up to 100+ pounds, and maneuvering awkward or bulky equipment parts.
