Fiber Installer

Henderson Municipal Power & Light (HMP&L), an electric utility in Henderson, Kentucky, is seeking a Fiber Installer to perform technical work involving the installation and maintenance of fiber optics, wireless and wireline systems, and related residential and business telecommunications equipment for the HMP&L Fiber Department. Qualifications include: high school diploma or GED; supplemented by additional education and training beyond high school in fiber optic communications or closely related field;

two to five years work experience in electronics and telecommunications cabling and service installation and maintenance including networks, WiFi equipment, phone equipment (VoIP and POTS), and optical network terminals is preferred, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for this job. Requirements include: ability to work in confined/low-ventilated areas such as crawlspaces and attics;

residency within a thirty-minute commute of the City of Henderson, Kentucky or relocation to Henderson County within an agreed upon time period; a valid driver’s license; and must pass a drug/alcohol screen, physical exam, and background check upon conditional offer of employment. Preferred, but not required: have received instruction in climbing poles. Starting annual wage is contingent upon experience, and includes paid vacation, sick leave, health benefits, and other benefits.
