NOTE:
This job description shall not be construed as a contract for employment. Must be at least 18 years of age. Sierra-at-Tahoe is an at-will employer. This position requires a post offer DMV check.
- Inspect, monitor and operate heavy equipment, including but not limited to snowplows, loaders, graders and other vehicles to effectively remove snow and ice from specified areas.
- Learn and follow Sierra’s designated routes and operating areas to ensure the specific snow removal areas of interest are understood prior to each shift.
- Coordinate with Snow Surfaces and Equipment Manager to establish efficient daily goals and plans for each shift.
- Conduct pre-operations checks on all equipment to ensure safe and proper functionality. Conduct end-of-shift equipment usage reports to indicate that status of equipment used during your shift and communicate any damages/concerns to equipment to the Snow Surfaces and Equipment Manager or mechanic.
- Communicate with other equipment operators and Sierra staff members to understand specific locations of operations to avoid any unnecessary collisions or accidents.
- Monitor weather forecasts to understand incoming snow/ice accumulation to ensure any equipment operations are down in an efficient, safe and timely manner.
- Assist with the repair and maintenance of snow removal equipment.
- Assist with the repair and maintenance of Sierra’s grounds to ensure roads, lots and entry points are accessible by guests and employees.
- Contribute to team effort by participating in Job Sharing and cross training, assuming responsibility for the cleanliness of the resort and safety of guests and employees; participating in safety meetings; accepting diverse assignments; maintain a positive and friendly attitude and demeanor in all internal and external interactions.
- Meet service level objectives and department goals as set forth by immediate supervisor.

Education and/or Experience
One‑year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language SkillsAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
Mathematical SkillsAbility to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret graphs.
Reasoning AbilityAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Certificates, Licenses, RegistrationsMust possess a valid State Driver’s License. Resort certification on any necessary equipment.
