Role Summary
Drivers are responsible for the safe transportation of hazardous and non-hazardous waste, picking up waste at customer locations and delivering to recycling/disposal facilities, accurately completing required paperwork, and maintaining company vehicles per policy.
Job Duties- Drive company vehicles in accordance with DOT regulations and company policies.
- Maintain records of routes and times in line with state and federal law and company policy.
- Accurately complete all documents required for operation of company vehicles.
- Transport waste/supplies safely to destination locations on time, verify shipping loads, obtain signatures for materials when delivered/picked up.
- Ensure accurate completion of all documents required for waste pickup including Job Orders, manifests, and Bills of Lading.
- Speak knowledgeably and courteously to VLS customers and recycling/disposal facility staff.
- Keep company vehicles clean.
- Perform daily inspection and maintenance of the truck and all related equipment, and submit repair requests as necessary to maintain safe operation.
- Operate warehouse equipment, including vehicles, to facilitate loading and unloading while observing all safety regulations and manufacturer’s safety instructions.
- Perform material handling duties as necessary to complete delivery of necessary materials.
- Relay customer feedback, including concerns, complaints, damaged deliveries, and competitive knowledge when presented.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Ability to drive commercial vehicles (dry vans, vacuum trucks, roll‑off trailers) is preferred.
- Ability to load and unload trucks.
- Ability to drive locally and regionally up to 250 miles with up to 3 days overnight per week.
- Open and transparent verbal communication skills.
- Satisfactory written communication skills.
- Works well independently.
- Ability to manage time and routes.
- Familiarity with GPS devices or map apps.
- Ability to operate warehouse equipment (pallet jacks, hand trucks, forklifts).
- Valid Commercial Driver License (Class
A). - Hazardous Materials and Tanker endorsement.
- Minimum two years of commercial driving experience.
$29.00 – $32.00 per hour.
