Position SummaryGSAPC is seeking an Intermediate Architect with approximately 5–10 years of professional experience to join our growing team. This position offers an excellent opportunity for a motivated architect to take increasing responsibility for project development while working directly on a wide variety of project types.
The successful candidate will possess strong technical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a thorough understanding of building systems, construction documentation, applicable building codes and a basic understanding of the public review process. The position requires a collaborative mindset and a willingness to mentor junior staff while continuing to develop professionally.
Primary Responsibilities- Prepare architectural drawings, specifications, and construction documents utilizing Autodesk Revit.
- Assist in all phases of project delivery, including programming, schematic design, design development, construction documents, bidding, and construction administration.
- Coordinate architectural work with structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, civil, landscape, and specialty consultants.
- Participate in client meetings, consultant coordination meetings, and project presentations.
- Conduct field investigations, existing conditions surveys, and construction observations.
- Prepare code analyses and assist with permit applications and agency submissions.
- Coordinate project documentation to maintain quality, consistency, and adherence to project schedules.
- Review shop drawings, submittals, RFIs, and contractor requests during construction.
- Assist with quality assurance reviews and internal project coordination.
- Mentor junior architectural staff and provide technical guidance as appropriate.
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Architecture from an accredited institution.
- 5–10 years of professional architectural experience.
- Proficiency in Autodesk Revit.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and Adobe Creative Suite.
- Strong understanding of building construction, detailing, and building systems.
- Working knowledge of the New York City and State Building Codes, International Building Code, New Jersey Rehabilitation Subcode, ADA Accessibility Standards, and applicable local regulations.
- Excellent verbal, written, and graphic communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously.
- Registered Architect or actively pursuing licensure.
- NCARB certification or on a path toward certification.
- Experience with institutional, educational, public-sector, or multifamily residential projects.
- Familiarity with historic preservation and adaptive reuse projects.
- Experience coordinating consultant teams and managing project schedules.
