Lead Math Instructor – Mathnasium (Montclair)

We are hiring a Lead Instructor in Montclair to play a key leadership role in delivering exceptional student experiences and supporting daily center operations.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys working with students and wants to grow into a leadership position. You’ll help shape the instructional experience, coach a team, and ensure every student receives high-quality math instruction that builds confidence and results.

This role is ideal for candidates pursuing leadership careers in education, operations, or business management.

As a Lead Instructor , you will oversee the instructional floor during center hours, ensuring students are engaged, instructors are supported, and operations run smoothly. You’ll serve as a coach, leader, and role model , helping maintain consistency and excellence in every session.

This role blends instruction, leadership, and customer experience , and is a key step toward future Center Director opportunities.

• $18.50 hourly rate

• Lead the instructional floor and manage classroom flow during sessions
• Coach, support, and develop a team of instructors
• Ensure all instruction aligns with the Mathnasium Method
• Deliver high-quality, engaging math instruction to students
• Build strong relationships with students and families
• Assist with center tours, consultations, and enrollment conversations
• Act as Manager on Duty; open/close the center as needed
• Monitor student progress and collaborate with the Center Director
• Maintain a structured, positive, and high-energy learning environment
• Support local marketing and community engagement efforts

• Strong math proficiency (through 12th grade)
• Proven ability to lead, coach, and motivate others
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Strong judgment and decision-making skills under pressure
• Highly organized and detail-oriented
• Comfortable with consultative conversations and overcoming objections
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• High School diploma or G.E.D. required; some college preferred
• Experience working with children required; leadership experience preferred
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Applications

This is a part-time leadership position (20-25 hours per week) .

• Monday-Thursday:
  Afternoon & evening hours (approx. 1:00 PM - 8:00 PM)
• Saturday: 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM

Ability to open and close the center is required.
