Montclair Kimberley Academy, an innovative Jr-K – 12 independent day school with a strong national reputation, seeks a full-time Upper School Assistant Librarian beginning the  school year. Responsibilities include circulation management, collection support, and supporting students and faculty with use of the Academic Center and its resources. The Assistant Librarian will help create a welcoming, comfortable environment that celebrates reading, research, inquiry, and exploration.

Qualified

Candidates Will Meet The Following Criteria
  • Bachelor’s Degree (preferred)
  • Library and/or education experience (preferred)
Collection Support / Circulation Management
  • Keep the online catalog current and discard materials as needed
  • Communicate with students regarding overdue, missing, and lost library materials
  • Track ordering/receipt of library materials processing and repairing for circulation as needed
  • Maintain relationship with vendors relating to interlibrary loan, library materials, and supplies
  • Check in and shelve circulated materials; shelf read to maintain organized collection
  • Conduct ongoing collection inventory
  • Collect usage statistics for Destiny (library catalog) and MKA Research Databases
  • Manage tri-campus new patron import into Destiny Library Catalog each Fall and maintain Upper School patron records throughout the school year
  • Help lead and/or participate in community initiatives as needed
Physical Library And Community Support
  • Staff main desk, providing circulation, reference, and readers advisory services to both students and faculty
  • Manage scheduling of Academic Center spaces; communicate set-up / reset needs to Facilities for events
  • Ensure Academic Center has all necessary supplies for student and faculty use
  • Assist with supervision of students using the library by communicating library policies and procedures
  • Support Student Library Leadership group with weekly programming and monthly displays
