The Department of Mathematics at Montclair State University invites applications for a 10-month Assistant Teaching Professor position. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to excellence in foundational mathematics education, a critical priority for the College.
Primary responsibilities include instruction and instructional support for MATH 108 (Transition to College Mathematics) and MATH 111 (Precalculus) to address evolving student needs and increasing enrollment.
Teaching Faculty members are expected to contribute to the University's mission through excellence in teaching and service.
Position is a two-year, ten-month, non-tenure track appointment, with eligibility for reappointment based on established NTTP procedures.
TeachingThe standard annual teaching load for 10-month teaching faculty is 12 teaching credit hours (TCH) a semester, with an option for additional 6 TCH in the summer for a 12-month faculty appointment.
Reassigned time (course release) is available for faculty with additional responsibilities such as administering programs.
Teaching Faculty are expected to center student success and measurable learning outcomes through clear course design, inclusive pedagogies, and the integration of emerging disciplinary and pedagogical developments.
Responsibilities include classroom instruction, and developing and updating courses and curricula aligned with student demands and institutional strategic priorities.
ServiceTeaching Faculty members are expected to perform valuable service to the department, college/school, and university. This includes participating in shared governance, academic program vitality, and sharing professional expertise within and beyond the University.
The Department of MathematicsThe Department of Mathematics, housed in the College of Science and Mathematics (CSAM), is committed to excellence in teaching, learning, scholarship, and service to the mathematics and mathematics education communities.
We offer a variety of programs ranging from undergraduate and graduate degrees in mathematics and mathematics education to a PhD in mathematics education.
Our students are prepared for careers in mathematics and beyond, as well as continued education at the graduate level.
Department activities range from undergraduate and graduate instruction to research.
Faculty conduct theoretical, applied, and social science research, often in collaboration with colleagues and students.

Qualifications RequiredPhD (or equivalent) in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or closely related field.
Demonstrated commitment to inclusive teaching.
