About the roleSpeed
X is seeking a results-driven finance technologist to own end-to-end process and system automation across the full finance value chain — from business operations data capture through settlement, accounting, analysis, and executive reporting. This role sits at the intersection of finance, technology, and process design
, and requires the maturity to partner cross-functionally, diagnose root-cause pain points, and translate them into scalable, audit-ready solutions.
End-to-End Process & System Automation
- Design and deliver automation spanning the full finance value chain — from upstream business operations (orders, shipments, billing) through settlement, accounting, analysis, and executive dashboards — ensuring seamless, low-touch data flows from source to insight.
- Own the integration layer between business and finance systems; ensure transactional data is captured, validated, and posted into the ERP without manual touchpoints.
- Lead design, configuration, and rollout of finance system enhancements, RPA bots, intelligent automation, and workflow tools across AR, AP, GL, settlement, reconciliation, and month-end close.
- Develop and maintain the finance automation roadmap — prioritize candidates by ROI, risk, and complexity; sequence delivery in waves; maintain a transparent backlog visible to finance and business leadership.
- Partner with IT, business teams, and external vendors to scope requirements, build process flows, manage UAT, drive go-live, and ensure stable post-launch operations.
- Champion an "automate-first" mindset across finance and business teams; surface new automation opportunities and reduce dependence on manual processing.
Finance Settlement & Accounting Automation
- Automate the full settlement lifecycle — from rate calculation and invoice generation, through dispute handling, payment processing, and clearing — in full compliance with U.S. GAAP and IRS requirements.
- Standardize and automate accounting workflows: journal entries, AR/AP processing, intercompany transactions, accruals, reconciliations, and month-end close.
- Build automated controls and exception handling with clear audit trails, validation logic, and escalation paths for every automated transaction.
Financial Analysis & Dashboard Automation
- Build automated data pipelines from ERP and operational systems into analysis-ready datasets that feed FP&A, management reporting, and ad-hoc analytics.
- Design and deliver executive dashboards (Power BI, Tableau) surfacing P&L, cost, volume, productivity, and KPI metrics in near real-time — replacing manual Excel reporting cycles.
- Enable self-service analytics for finance and business stakeholders with consistent data definitions, refresh cycles, and drill-down capability.
Process Diagnosis, Standardization & Optimization
- Map and assess existing end-to-end processes across business operations, settlement, accounting, and reporting; identify redundant, inefficient, and high-risk manual steps.
- Deliver structured process optimization reports with clear recommendations, automation proposals, and quantified impact (hours saved, error reduction, cycle-time improvement).
- Author SOPs, control documentation, and process flows meeting internal control, audit, and U.S. tax requirements.
