Position Summary

TACI is seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to maintain, diagnose, and repair our fleet of commercial trucks, trailers, and construction equipment. The ideal candidate has experience working on Ford diesel trucks, hydraulic systems, brake systems, trailers, and fleet maintenance programs.

This position plays a critical role in minimizing equipment downtime by performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting mechanical issues, completing repairs efficiently, and ensuring fleet vehicles remain safe, reliable, and ready to support telecommunications construction projects throughout California.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair Ford diesel engines and commercial fleet vehicles
  • Perform preventative maintenance on commercial trucks, trailers, and construction equipment
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, brake, and lighting systems
  • Perform engine diagnostics using computerized diagnostic equipment
  • Repair and maintain suspension, steering, cooling, fuel, and drivetrain systems
  • Inspect vehicles to identify maintenance needs and potential safety concerns
  • Complete work orders accurately and efficiently while maintaining repair documentation
  • Coordinate movement of trucks, trailers, and equipment for repairs or inspections
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop environment
  • Assist with fleet inspections and equipment readiness for field operations
  • Follow manufacturer specifications, company procedures, and shop safety practices
  • Support emergency equipment repairs when operational needs require immediate response

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 1-3 years of diesel mechanic or commercial truck repair experience
  • Experience diagnosing and repairing Ford commercial diesel trucks
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engines, preventative maintenance, and fleet repair
  • Experience repairing hydraulic, brake, lighting, suspension, and electrical systems
  • Ability to diagnose mechanical issues using electronic diagnostic equipment
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple repair priorities
  • Basic knowledge of BIT inspections and DOT regulations
  • Strong troubleshooting, organizational, and time-management skills
  • Valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record

Preferred Qualifications

  • Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
  • Experience maintaining telecommunications construction equipment
  • ASE Diesel Certification or equivalent mechanical certifications
  • Experience with fleet maintenance management systems
  • Knowledge of trailers, heavy equipment, generators, compressors, and utility equipment
  • Welding and fabrication experience
  • Hydraulic repair experience
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Bilingual English and Spanish
