Operations Manager
Location: Saint-Hyacinthe
As the Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Director, you will play a key strategic role in building a strong safety culture across the organization. As a member of the production plant’s leadership team, you will ensure alignment between HSE objectives and daily operations.
You will also provide technical support and guidance to all sites. Your mission will be to develop and implement a comprehensive HSE strategy that exceeds regulatory standards and achieves high levels of safety
and sustainability.
The position is based at our Saint‑Hyacinthe plant, with travel to our downtown Montréal and Toronto offices.
What you will accomplish on a daily basis:
- HSE Strategy Development: Design and implement a comprehensive health, safety, and environmental strategy that reflects the company’s commitment to employee safety and environmental protection
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with local, provincial, and national HSE laws and regulations, guaranteeing that the company meets all legal requirements
- Risk Assessment: Conduct risk analyses to identify potential hazards in the workplace and implement preventive measures. Collaborate with other departments to integrate HSE objectives across all functions and ensure they are understood and applied
- Training and Awareness:Develop and deliver safety and well‑being training programs to promote a strong safety culture across the organization
- Audits and Performance Evaluation:Conduct regular internal audits to assess the effectiveness of HSE programs and establish performance indicators to track progress.
- Report regularly to leadership and stakeholders on HSE performance, initiatives, and audit results
- Incident Management and Investigations: Oversee investigations of workplace accidents and incidents, analyze root causes, and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence
- Innovation and Continuous Improvement: Identify best practices and innovations in HSE to continuously improve working conditions and reduce risks
- Safety Culture Management: Promote a positive safety culture where employees feel responsible and
engaged in their own safety and that of their colleagues
What you need to join our team:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field
- Five (5) years of experience in an HSE leadership or program management role, ideally in manufacturing
- Proven leadership experience in a manufacturing environment, ideally in the agri‑food sector
- Strong interpersonal, coaching, and project management skills
- Proficiency with software applications essential to HSE operations
- Solid knowledge of local HSE regulations
